Continuing education

The purpose of continuing education

As the research carried out in PRIMES will contribute to the development of new instruments and methods, a training of the existing scientific and medical staff will be necessary. This research is multidisciplinary, and new ideas will emerge in parallel in various fields. Thus, it is necessary for scientists to regularly acquire and integrate the new generated knowledge. Post-doctoral classes, as the DU of Radiobiology (managed by LabEx members) and classes for Imaging techniques will be developed and made available to the LabEx members as well as to outside collaborators.

Finally, highly specialized practitioners, notably medical physicists, need a continuous knowledge refreshing, if only because the techniques are evolving. For instance the radioprotection course has to be taken every 5 years to guarantee the optimum up-to-date methods and protection. One objective of the LabEx for continuing education is to develop several classes (physics, statistics…) for the medical physicists and others medical staff like dosimetry or radiology technicians. It is worth noting that most of the Masters Programs among the LabEx — like the Masters in Medical Physics in Lyon and in Grenoble, preparing the students to the national DQPRM (Diplôme de Qualification en Physique Radiologique et Médicale) — are already open for continuing education.
